herbert hoover middle school main office & guidance dept.

The principal of Herbert Hoover Middle School reached out to us in regard to redesigning the main office and guidance department.  He did not want the traditional school main office set up.  He wanted something new.  Modern.  Fresh.  The women in the main office wanted their own spaces with some privacy.  They were adamant about keeping some separation between themselves and the students.  They also stressed the need for A LOT of file storage space.  And we knew exactly how we could make all of this happen for them!

We began with Hon's Abound panel system.  Abound gives you the option to insert different 'tiles' on both sides of each panel.  This allowed us to use beautiful Pinnacle colored laminate tiles for the exterior side and tackable fabric tiles for the interior.  We added a transaction top in the front to create separation between the office staff and the students/visitors.  We lined the back wall with lateral files and a couple storage cabinets.  We added laminate tops across the entire run for aesthetics as well as for additional counter space.

We kept the colors consistent in the Principal & Vice Princeipal's offices.  We used Hon's Valido series desking with the ribbon edge.  We thought it was a good idea for the Principal to have the larger bow-front desk.

The Guidance office is essentially connected to the main office.  They wanted students and visitors to be able to easily distinguish between the two departments.  We decided to use Global for Guidance.  Keeping with a neutral color pallette, we flipped the color scheme of the workstations in the Main Office for the desks in Guidance.  We went with white steel frames and brushed cobalt (essentially grey) laminate tops for the desks.  White vertical and lateral files were dispersed throughout the department.
